A 1939 photo entitled "Sid Grossman in Harlem" was recently dug-up at the New York Public Library, and the unidentified man in the black-and-white image has since achieved viral fame thanks to his uncanny resemblance to rap superstar Jay-Z. After the classic snapshot of the Jay-Z look-alike hit the web, amusing theories started floating around with fans begging the question - how is it that HOV never seems to age? Is it time travel? Is Beyonce's beau truly a member of the Illuminati? Is Jay-Z a vampire! Read on for more details, and check out the awesome image of Jay-Z from 1939.
The photo (taken by photographer Sid Grossman) was recently discovered by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library. It features an unnamed man (the Jay-Z look-alike) sitting on a railing in Harlem, flaunting a button-jacket and flat-cap:
How very Jay-Z-esque! If the photo was snapped in Brooklyn (HOV's hometown) and not Harlem, it'd be even more interesting...
So here are some bizarre theories to explain the 1989 Jay-Z look-alike:
Time Travel: Jay-Z did just record several tracks for the highly-anticipated remake of "The Great Gatsby." Maybe he needed some inspiration from that time era?
Illuminati: The (fictional) uber-secret society made up of rich/powerful/successful individuals reportedly rules the world unnoticed - some believe that Jay-Z is a prominent member. How this relates to the 1930s look-alike, who knows...
Vampire: Jay-Z is wise beyond his years and never seems to age... for all that fans know, he could be thousands of years old!
So what do fans think? Is the 1939 look-alike just a coincidence, or is there more to the story...
