The good news that “Once Upon a Time” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have been telling fans is that they will tie up all the stories. This is to give viewers a sense of closure in case the series does not return. However, a completely new plot will also be introduced. This leaves fans wondering if they will be left with an eternal cliffhanger if the season finale ends up being the series finale too.

Whether “Once Upon a Time” will be extended for another season will reportedly be known next week. Kitsis promised that they will tie all the Storybrooke stories in a neat little bow in Emma’s anticipated Final Battle. He admitted that they have completed the story that they have been telling for six years reports Entertainment Weekly. Now, the show will move forward hopefully in a Season 7 with the story they will introduce in the season finale.

Meanwhile, contract negotiations with cast members Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle and Colin O’Donoghue have gone down the wire. ABC has not confirmed who have signed again and who were let go. Ginnifer Goodwin and husband Josh Dallas will allegedly only guest star as needed in a possible season 7.

Kitsis revealed that any changes in the cast have been accommodated in the upcoming “Once Upon a Time” Season 6 finale reports TVLine. He also said that the significant cast change is vital in a reboot of sorts for the series which is necessary to make it more attractive for a renewal by the network.

The executive producer also claimed that the “Once Upon a Time” Season 7 cast will be a mix of old and new characters. Additions to the cast include Andrew J. West from “The Walking Dead” and Alison Fernandez from “Jane the Virgin.”

Kitsis said he is already anticipating mixed reactions from the viewers for the season finale given all the uncertainty surrounding it. The sad thing is, if season 7 never comes for “Once Upon a Time,” it will defeat the show’s purpose of ending its six-year plot so as not to leave its loyal fans hanging. Instead, they will be left with an ambiguous ending that will raise more questions than answers.
