TMZ reports that Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin was arrested in LA on Monday afternoon (May 13) after he was spotted beating up his ex-wife in front of several eyewitnesses. Earlier this month, Scantlin ran into trouble with the law pertaining to his cocaine use. During Monday's physical confrontation, the "She Hates Me" rocker allegedly roughed up his ex-wife Jessica Nicole Smith before "forcefully" dragging her by the arm. Cops were called to the scene and Scantin was booked and charged with domestic violence.
According to TMZ, authorities were called to a business in West Hollywood at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Several onlookers witnessed Scantlin violently shaking his ex-wife Smith following a verbal argument, and then dragging her away by the arm and t-shirt against her will. When police tried to get statements from both parties, sources confirm that 40-year-old Scantlin would not corporate. One insider insists "he was very mouthy" towards the cops and resisted arrest.
Scantin was booked on domestic violence charges - he was released from Ventura County jail after posting a $20,000 bail.
This arrest comes less than a week after Scantlin paid a $11,176 bond stemming from both his ongoing cocaine case and driving without a license (on May 7).
This isn't the "Blurry" singer's first domestic violence offense - in 2002 he was arrested on similar allegations after witnesses saw him involved in a dispute with former fiancée, actress Michelle Rubin. Police were called after onlookers watched Scantlin push Rubin into a car driven by an unidentified third person.
