The-Dream is one of the best R&B songwriters in America. The Atlanta native producer has penned and produced award-winning tracks for Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, himself, and a host of other singers. The man behind "Single Ladies," and Rihanna's "Umbrella" is back with his new studio album IV Play. If his new track "Turnt" featuring Beyoncé is any indication of how the album will sound, then it is safe to say Dream is on his way to another hit.
"Turnt" featuring Bey and 2 Chainz is sultry, hip, and provocative. Bey sings, "Talking 'bout you're gon' kill it/beat it up till I black out," followed by the line "People think I'm crazy, but I love you 'cause you're crazy too." The-Dream continues to bridge R&B with hip-hop as his emotional vocals, honest lyrics, and ability to accommodate any track with a catchy hook certifies radio play.
Will this album finally grant The-Dream the solo artist credit that he deserves? While he has won several awards for penning songs for other artists, Dream has never placed in the top charts for any of his own work. IV Play is finally set to hit stores on May 28. Dream is also working with Beyonce on her upcoming album and he teamed up with Kelly Rowland for her latest single "Dirty Laundry."
