It is over for "Bachelor" couple Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell. The reality stars have ended their year long relationship to the shock of their fans.

Chris Harrison, 45, host of the dating shows "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" was also saddened about Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell's split. He witnessed how the then-couple met, fell in love and got engaged on Season 20 of the ABC reality series.

"So I know they were fighting through a bunch of stuff," Chris Harrison told People. "But I don't know. I'll reach out to them. I'm very sorry to hear that because I do care about them very much." Harrison continued.

An insider revealed that Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell were pressured to make things seem better than they were. As a result, the "Bachelor" couple fought more often and this has resulted in their split. They couldn't hold on to living their relationship in the public eye.

After Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell's stint on the dating reality show on ABC, they appeared on the small screen again with their own spinoff, "Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After." In one of the episodes, Ben Higgins called off their wedding.

"The Bachelor" star admitted that he was not yet ready to get married. Lauren Bushnell was supportive of his decision because she was positive that their wedding will happen, it just takes longer. Unfortunately, their split sealed the deal.

Sources close to Lauren Bushnell admitted that they were not surprised that her relationship with Ben Higgins ended this way. A source told E! News that Lauren was honest to her friends about her struggles with her relationship with Ben. She felt that she gave up everything for her ex-fiancé.

Another source revealed that Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell's split was a mutual decision. The pair has different wants and needs. They have been struggling with it for a while.
