Just when you thought the news being generated by Justin Bieber's world tour couldn't get any stranger, he went and saved the best for last (I, too, structure my life around Vanessa Williams songs). During the last performance of the overseas leg of Bieber's world tour at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, thieves pulled off a heist worthy of Ocean's 11 and walked out of the venue with an estimated $330,000.
According to TMZ, the thieves chiseled a tunnel into the venue's safe room, lowered themselves in on ropes and left with the proceeds from the show.
Because of the amount of planning, knowledge and work required to pull of the heist, Johannesburg officials believe the theft was the work of insiders.
Spin says that FNB Stadium can hold up to 94,000 people and any thieves would have to get past "as many as 900 security guards."
"It wasn't me." TMZ reports Beiber as tweeting, however, there is no record of the tweet.
This is a fitting end to a Bieber tour that was absolutely rife with weird news. It started with the Biebz collapsing during a show at London's O2 arena. After that, he was forced to cancel a show in Portugal. Then came the news that he was being charged with battery by a Calabasas neighbor (he would later face a second legal action over the song "Somebody to Love"). Then, his tour bus was raided and authorizes found weed on board in Sweden. A trip to Amsterdam proved eventful as Bieber made some misguided comments in the guestbook at the Anne Frank house. Then, a fan rushed the stage and attempted to attack him in Dubai.
Hopefully, when he starts his US tour on June 22, things will be a little less eventful for the 19-year-old.
