"Rick and Morty" Season 3 may see the return of several old characters including Evil Morty and Mr. Meeseeks. Speculations are rife that Evil Morty appears in Episode 2, "Rickmancing the Stone, " at which the release date has yet to be revealed.
There is no update yet on the exact release date for "Rick and Morty" Season 3 Episode 2. The show's Twitter page confirmed it returns this summer, so that is sometime between June and August. IMDB initially listed a May 14 airdate for "Rickmancing the Stone" but did not happen. The common notion is that the show returns in July as with previous seasons, although fans are hoping for an earlier release in June.
Meanwhile, ahead of the return of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 several possible spoilers have come up and one involves the returning characters. Writer Ryan Ridley hinted at the return of Mr. Meeseeks and Evil Morty in an interview with Y Combinator. Fans theorized that Evil Morty appears in Episode 2, when good Morty rebels against his grandfather following Beth and Jerry's divorce. Showrunner Justin Roiland also teased the return of the character in a previous tweet.
As for Mr. Meeseeks' return in "Rick and Morty" Season 3, co-showrunner Dan Harmon hinted at the character's cameo in a previous interview. According to Slashfilm, he teased that they might put the blue alien in a spoof of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." If not, then they could always find another episode to put Mr. Meeseeks in.
"We can also do an episode where it's not about that as a topic and just have him like Dr. Seuss, use him as a tool. As long as it tracks for a first time viewer, oh, I guess that's some kind of guy that says, 'I'm Mr. Meeseeks' and does his thing," Harmon said when asked about his plans for "Rick and Morty" Season 3.
