Wonder Woman has been seeing a lot of trouble getting onto big and small screen in recent years. Fortunately for the DC Comic franchise character, there is and probably always will be a high demand for the super heroine. The most recent take on the super-powered woman is CW's prequel series "Amazon." Like "Smallville" was for Superman, "Amazon" hopes to be for Wonder Woman. Though this new show did not get a pilot order for January, the show is still in the works and hopefully will come to the popular television network sometime soon.

When asked if "Amazon" was still was still in the works, CW president Mark Pedowitz responded, "Oh god yes." He was asked at the networks upfront presentations today, where he continues, "It is being redeveloped. We're waiting for the script to come in. We have not seen it yet. We are preparing to pilot it off-cycle should the script be what we want it to be. We do not want to produce something that doesn't work for that particular character."

"Amazon" started development last year but the network rejected the first script, written by Allan Heinberg. News has been slow since then, but with the CW upfront presentations today, we got some updates. "Heroes" writer Aron Eli Coleite has been hired to pen the next take of the script and hopefully he can succeed where numerous other have failed.

A nice thing to hear about why this series has been delayed so much is that CW wants to get the character right. The success of this show hinges on the casting of the lead as well as the writing, so hopefully Coleite can get this done. Of course, casting the lead will be the next big step and will hopefully be taken as seriously as everything else has been so far.

"It is the trickiest of all the DC characters to get done," Pedowitz admitted.
