After about a month or so of rumors of a return to his hosting gig of the Oscars in 2104, Seth MacFarlane announced yesterday on Twitter that he has turned down the job. After mixed reviews and controversial segments from the 2013 Academy Awards, many people were surprised that the "Family Guy" creator was asked back. Nonetheless, he will not be hosting in 2014 and even used some humor to make the announcement on Twitter.
Yesterday, Seth MacFarlane posted the following tweets on his Twitter account:
Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly-->

So who do you think will get the job? Who do you think will even want it?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 2010's co-host of the Oscars, Alec Baldwin, said, "Everyone who has done it lately has been crucified. So they're not going to get anybody who is reasonably talented or special to take that chance anymore."
One criticized host of the Oscars, Jame Franco, had this to say about his experience: "Here's the hypocritical thing: Leading up to the Oscars, I couldn't hear enough about how, 'Oh, people don't care about the Oscars anymore, it's dead, it's boring, it's at the end of a long awards season, who cares about it?' Well, as soon as you don't host the way they want you to, they suddenly care and they won't shut up about it."
Many people are hoping Tina Fey will take the job, but don't get your hopes up. When asked about hosting the Academy Awards, Fey joked about all of the dresses she would have to wear and then added: "It's a really difficult room. High levels of stress are shooting out of just about everyone there. The Golden Globes are less pressure. It's like an exhibition game for the real season."
