Zach Galifianakis, Saved Homeless Woman [PHOTO]: 'Hangover 3' Star Takes Elizabeth 'Mimi' Haist to Movie Premiere

Zach Galifianakis brought a longtime friend to yesterday's Los Angeles premiere of The Hangover Part III: an 87-year-old woman who he saved from homelessness two years ago. Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist met Galifianakis about 20 years ago when she was working for tips at a Laundromat. When the comedian heard that she had fallen into destitution, Galifianakis found her, bought her an apartment and has been paying her rent and utilities.

After the success of The Hangover and the transformation of his career, Galifianakis stopped going to the Laundromat where Haist was working and the two pretty much lost ouch. But when he heard of her situation Galifianakis came back into her life as a savior.

This is not the first time Zach has brought Mimi to a premiere though. At the premieres of his movies The Hangover Part II and The Campaign, Zach was accompanied by Haist.

"All the fans were taking photos and I waved at them, I said, 'They don't know who I am!'" Haist said. "Afterwards, they have a party at somewhere close by and you meet the stars. I drink lemon drop martinis with Grey Goose vodka." Galifianakis also introduced Haist to actress Renee Zellweger, who has since furnished the one bedroom apartment he got the former homeless woman. Every few weeks Galifianakis stops by and takes Haist out for lunch, too.

Though Haist has not shared her opinions of Zach's The Hangover films and their crude humor, she did share that she enjoys the reactions from the media she garners. She said, "It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterwards."

When asked about the popular trilogy coming to an end, Galifianakis responded, "I'm not sad. I'm really excited about being able to celebrate this with the fans across the country. This is the last one, so we kind of wrap things up nicely with the third one."

Galifiankis married his longtime girlfriend Quinn Lundberg last year and she too has joined Haist at the premieres.
