Though the real deal, official new album from Daft Punk hit stores yesterday, it turns out there's more music from the French duo for us to digest. Random Access Memories Japanese release contained a bonus track called "Horizon." Listen to it below:
The track starts off with an acoustic strum that bares more than a passing similarity to Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here." This trippy, relaxing track gradually builds until it starts to feel like a forgotten Broken Bells song around the two minute mark. Tiny snippets of Daft Punk's signature slinky basslines skirt around the edges of "Horizon" until a mournful guitar solo carries the track out.
All in all, "Horizon" fits in well with similarly sad Random Access Memories songs "Touch" and "Within."
(On a related note: can anyone tell me why Japanese releases always seem to have bonus tracks?)
What do you think of "Horizon"? What about Random Access Memories in general?
