Tim Curry reportedly suffered a major stroke at his Los Angeles home this week but is doing well and recovering back at his house. The 67-year-old star is most known for his eccentric roles and performances since breaking into the entertainment world in the 1970s. Curry is a beloved British performer and his followers will be pleased to hear that he seems to be recovering after the stroke.
"Tim is doing great," Curry's longtime Los Angeles agent Marcia Hurwitz told the Daily Mail. "He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor," she added. Strokes usually lead to brain paralysis that can cause loss of speech and even paralysis of some parts of the body. But it sounds like Curry has not suffered any of the negative symptoms from his major stroke.
The last major medical emergency of Curry's that was publically known happened in 2011. He was scheduled to portray the Player in a Trevor Nunn production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead at the Chichester Festival Theatre and then in London from May to August, but withdrew from the production at the last minute. Curry cited ill health as the reason. Curry apparently was said to be suffering from "debilitating asthma attacks" after an alleged chest infection.
Tim rose to fame with his portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult musical Rocky Horror Picture Show. After that he has become a household name with iconic roles including the murderous clown Pennywise in Stephen King's It and numerous other characters as well as voice acting gigs.
