Well, this is just sad. During Katherine Jackson's negligence suit against AEG Live, it has come out that the concert promoters were well aware of Michael Jackson's deteriorating health during his "This Is It" tour. The case has just revealed an incriminating email that was sent on June 19, 2009, just five days before Jackson's death.
"I have watched him deteriorate in front of my eyes over the last eight weeks," John Hougdahl wrote to AEG CEO Randy Phillips, according to SPIN. "My laymen's degree tells me he needs a shrink to get mentally prepared to get on stage and then a trainer to get him in physical shape."
"He used to do multiple 360 spins back in April. He'd fall on his ass if he tried now," the letter went on to say, according to Billboard.
The suit is claiming that AEG showed negligence in hiring Conrad Murray to be MJ's doctor. Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for his role in the singer's death. The emails presented by the defense intend to show a lack of consideration, or even outright hostility, toward the late Jackson.
"He is an emotionally paralyzed mess riddled with self loathing and doubt now that it is show time," said promoter Randy Phillips in a message that is part of the 250 pages of emails obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
"Are you kidding me?" responded AEG President Tim Leiweke.
In an earlier email around the time of Jackson signing the contract for the 50-show "This Is It" stint in London, AEG executives referred to Michael as "the freak" and "creepy."
AEG maintains that they have done nothing wrong
"If you are in the creative arts business, you are going to be involved with individuals who have a great many problems," AEG attorney Marvin Putnam told the Times. "Michael Jackson was an adult and ... it is supercilious to say he was unable to take care of his own affair
