Snooki and Chris Christie Awkward Encounter at Seaside Heights Boardwalk Reopening after Hurricane Sandy [VIDEO]: 'Jersey Shore' vs. NJ Governor, 'He Just Doesn't Like Us'

On Friday, May 24, the infamous Seaside Heights boardwalk in New Jersey reopened for the 2013 summer season following the devastation of last fall's Hurricane Sandy. Several celebs were there to witness the exciting event... including several members of MTV's "Jersey Shore" cast and NJ Governor Chris Christie... And Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's firstime encounter with the large-and-in-charge politician was definitely an awkward one! Basically, Christie isn't the biggest fan of Snooki and her wild GTL gang... and vice versa. Check out the amusing footage below!

In the rather cringe-worthy clip, Snooki asks Christie why he's standing so close to her at the reopening event. Christie then dramatically leans-in towards the reality starlet to intensify the already uncomfortable interaction. Later on, Snooki tells the Governor, "I just wanted to meet you, and just, hope you start to like us."

The awkward exchange continues for some time before Snooki walks-off with BFF J-Woww, blatantly stating, “He just doesn’t like us.”
