Back in April, Brooklyn-based indie rock superstars Grizzly Bear taped an interview and performance episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and it finally aired today. According to Ellen's website, she is a big fan of the band and was excited to have them on to perform "Yet Again," the first single off of their latest album Shields. The episode also featured an interview with Steve Harvey.
The episode's description read: "[O]ne of Ellen's favorite bands, GRIZZLY BEAR is in the house to give a special performance for one of their biggest fans!"
Grizzly Bear singer Ed Droste posted a tweet on Twitter after the April taping of the show, describing the experience and his excitement of performing for Ellen DeGeneres on her show:
Ellen and Portia are so nice and welcoming! Feel like we are playing their house they are so enthusiastic. My palm tree face injury amused!

Everyone in the audience received a copy of Grizzly Bear's record Shields that day as well. This album received a high rating of 9.1 on Pitchfork when it was released back in September of 2012. Reviewer Lindsay Zoladz had this to say about the record and the band:
"By now, each of the four members has cultivated his own unique and expressive vocabulary, and each feels integral to the sound of Shields. Chris Bear's drumming is lyrical and swift, moving from delicately timed details to big, booming ruckuses (check out the way his percussive rumbles in the background of the verses of 'Yet Again' foreshadow its avalanche of a conclusion), while Chris Taylor's penchant for haunting effects and gently buoyant grooves adds an otherworldly weightlessness to these soundscapes. Droste's voice resounds with ache and longing, and there's a newfound and welcome gravel to his vocals that add a raw, unvarnished quality to songs like 'The Hunt' and 'Speaking in Rounds'."
