Woo Hah! Paramount needs a check.
At least that's the story coming from TMZ. The gossip site reports that Busta Rhymes is being sued by Paramount Recording Studios for $70,300. Allegedly, Busta used the studio for 375 hours from 2011-2012 and never paid a dime.
According to the website, the legal documents in the case lay out the recording hours of Rhymes and they are ,not surprisingly to any of us who remember '90s Busta, insane.
A few examples [via]:
December 5th, 2011 -- Busta punched in at 3PM and punched out at 7AM
January 15th, 2012 -- In at 7PM, out at 3AM
January 18th, 2012 -- In at 9PM, out at 6AM
February 12th, 2012 -- In at 10pm, out at 6AM
Yes, that first session was 16 hours long.
Overall, the rapper logged 35 sessions. Meaning that he averaged roughly 10.7 hours per session. Given how many words Busta can fit into a single verse, I have a feeling that Rhymes may have put down a library's worth of work during his time inside Paramount.
What do you think? Did Busta really stiff Paramount for $70,300? What do you think he was doing during those long hours in the studio? Is there a well of unreleased Busta?
Also, it really isn't a good time to be a high-profile hip-hop or R&B star from the '90s, especially if you have a dicey record when it comes to paying the piper.
