In a recent interview with ABC News' Cecilia Vega, actor Matthew Perry got the opportunity to talk about his iconic role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom "Friends." Just as most interviews with any of the cast members do, the questions soon turned to rumors about a "Friends" reunion special, season, movie or any other form coming up. The 46-year-old actor shared his opinion on the "Friends" comeback and also got to talk about his addiction problems.
"Mostly it was drinking, you know, and opiates," Perry said. "I think I was pretty good at hiding it but, you know, eventually people were aware."
As most fans of Perry know, he has been in and out of rehab numerous times over his career. Another obvious change in Perry was his appearance, especially his weight gain and loss.
"I honestly recoil," Perry said of looking some photos from his addiction days. "It's scary to look at that. I was a sick guy."
Now living sober, Perry has turned his former home in Malibu, California, into a sober living home. Working with addiction specialist Earl Hightower, the home called Perry Home is a place where men can go to transition from rehab to the real world. The two men received the Champion of Recovery award this month from the Obama Administration's Office of National Drug Control Policy.
When asked about reunited with his old "Friends" cast members for some sort of special project, Perry was straight forward.
"I don't think so," he said. "It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good."
"It was so terrific," he continued. "If we did a movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it."
However, there might be some sort of "Friends" reunion when co-star Jennifer Aniston marries Justin Theroux sometime in the near future. Perry was coy about revealing any details on that as well.
"I would assume I'll be there," he said.
