The Duchess of Cambridge's party-planner sister Pippa Middleton has not given up on her aspirations to plan a royal baby shower for Prince William's wife. With the future heir to the throne's birth inching closer and closer, it seems like Kate will be getting the baby shower she was allegedly hoping for. Of course this fun event is normal for commoners, baby showers go against the royal tradition. So if it does take place, this will be the first baby shower in the history of the royal family!
Throughout her eight months of being pregnancy, rumors of whether or not Kate Middleton would receive a baby shower have been circulating. Considering her family owns a renowned party planning company and her younger sister Pippa is all about the business, most people just assumed it would happen. But the celebratory get together is unheard of in the royal family's long history of pregnancies. Not even the unconventional, innovative Princess Diana had a baby shower!
In many ways, Kate has been compared to her husband's late mother Diana. Both have joined the royal family from humble beginnings and stepped into major roles in the world of charity. And just like Diana, the Duchess has challenged the norms of the traditions she married into.
According to a friend close to Middleton and her family, "She is modern and wants a normal life."
"It isn't royal tradition but Kate isn't a traditional Royal," the friend told The Sun.
"Prince Harry, Kate and William are the Royal Family's link to the younger generation. A baby shower wouldn't normally happen if you're in the Royal Family, but there is now a modern way of thinking ... It will be a great day for everyone and Kate is doing this with the blessing of the Queen."
The party will reportedly be held at Kate's parents' home in Berkshire and include a specialized cake made by her brother James.
