The website ComicBookMovie.com posted on Sunday some photos from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that reveal a potential major spoiler for the upcoming Spidey sequel.

The photos depict Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) and Gwen Stacy's (Emma Stone) high school graduation. But surprisingly, the photos reveal the appearance of Denis Leary, who portrayed Gwen's father, police captain George Stacy, in The Amazing Spider-Man.

Stacy died in the first movie when The Lizard tore him apart at the top of Oscorp Tower during the climactic battle in the film. In the photos on ComicBookMovie.com, Leary is dressed in his police uniform but is covered in blood. The shirt is also mostly unbuttoned and three large slash marks can be seen on the chest.

It seems likely, then, that Leary's appearance in the movie would be part of a dream sequence or a hallucination on the part of Peter, who promised Stacy just before he died that he would stay away from Gwen. But Peter/Spider-Man quickly broke that promise at the end of the movie.

Mstars previously reported the account of a Reddit user named Qspnest, who commented on two videos that showed Andrew Garfield in his full Spider-Man costume playing basketball with some children during a filming break in New York City. Emma Stone was there, as well.

Qspnest said in his post in mid-May that Leary was also in attendance, which indicated his involvement in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The superhero sequel is set for a May 2, 2014 release.
