The Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota was lit brilliantly for audience members of a NEEDTOBREATHE concert. What the audience, which included Christian Ponder, Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, didn't expect was to have their socks blown off by the opening band, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors.
Drew Holcomb and his band looked as ordinary as any other opening act. They were dressed in clothes that suggested they were a bluegrass band (a dead giveaway of them being that genre was the stand up bass in the back). The stage shone brightly as lights were pointed to a massive crystal chandelier in the middle of the theater. Expectations were not high just before they hit their first note, but then they did and sullen faces turned to smiles, which turned to people screaming, and people jumping up and down and dancing in their seats.
Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors played extremely well. They could not have been a better supplement to NEEDTOBREATHE which also rocked the stage. Christian Ponder didn't have anything to say about NEEDTOBREATHE, however.
Just heard "@drewholcomb and the neighbors" at @needtobreathe concert and now am a big fan!

Christian Ponder's twitter account suddenly popped up saying, "Just heard @drewholcomb and the neighbors at @needtobreathe concert and now am a big fan!"
Judging by the intense roar of the crowd when they left the stage, I would say most of the audience agreed with him.
There was no time during the entire event that was louder than the end. NEEDTOBREATHE seemed to be wrapping up their show, when suddenly Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors joined the stage with them. They played a total of 3 songs together. Everyone in the theater was standing, taking in the music and enjoying the new, melding sound of two great bands.
If you have not heard of Drew Holcomb and the neighbors, chances are that you will be hearing about them soon. I imagine they will make it far in their career.
