A never-before-seen Grateful Dead concert movie entitled Sunshine Daydream will hit select theaters on Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. local time as a special screening by NCM Fathom Events, according to Rolling Stone.

The movie screening is part of the "Grateful Dead Meet Up At The Movies 2013" series.

The Sunshine Daydream concert was filmed in 1972 at the Oregon County Fair in Veneta, Ore. and served as a benefit show to save the nearby Springfield Creamery. The concert has gone down in lore as one of the most buzzed about performances in the history of the rock band.

The movie will show unreleased, never-before-seen footage from the concert, as well as more recent interviews with Ken Babbs, Sam Cutler, Wavy Gravy and Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia (Jerry Garcia's wife from 1981 to 1994).

The Grateful Dead performed "Greatest Story Ever Told," "Dark Star," "Bird Song" and "Playing in the Band," among other selections. The video below is a clip from Sunshine Daydream that features the crowd eagerly anticipating the start of the performance and the band's setting up on stage, as well as the opening song, "Promised Land."

The movie was shot on 16mm film and was restored to high-definition resolution for the special screening. The audio was also completely remastered.

Tickets for the screening are available at the NCM Fathom website, which also has information on participating theaters. Fans can also purchase tickets at those local movie theaters.

The Grateful Dead formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, Calif. and disbanded after Jerry Garcia's death in 1995.
