Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe has officially been cleared of all manslaughter charges after a Czech appeals court upheld the "not guilty" verdict.
Blythe was arrested and held in custody during the metal band's tour in the Czech Republic during 2012. Officials implicated him in the death of Daniel Nosek, a 19 y.o. who had attended a 2010 Lamb of God show in Prague. According to the charges, Nosek had climbed on stage during the concert and had been pushed off by Blythe, suffering head trauma and dying two weeks later. Blythe was freed on bail and returned to Prague in February of this year for his trial.
In March, the municipal court ruled that Blythe had shoved Nosek (a fact the vocalist denied), but ruled that the situation at the concert provoked his actions. According to reports, fans repeatedly climbed over security fences and jumped on stage. The court held the concert promoter and security staff criminally liable for not providing proper protection for the bands and attendees. The state attorney appealed the decision, leading to the case being reviewed by the appeals court. The appeals court's decision clears Blythe from all charges.
Lamb of God is currently touring in Wisconsin and Blythe offered no immediate comment on Wednesday's announcement, but his handling of the trial earlier this year impressed many. It could be assumed that he's an angry guy based strictly on his band's lyrics, but Blythe appeared sympathetic in various posts made throughout the trial.
"It would be absolutely intolerable for me to hide from this situation. I am an innocent man, but a family suffers the loss of a son, a fan of my band," he said upon receiving his first "not guilty" verdict.
