A stretch of bad weather in New York City made it look like Kings of Leon might not be able to play its first show since 2011, but concert organizers have managed to find a better (and more dry) time for the band to perform.

The rock band was due to headline Friday night of The Governor's Ball, a music festival held on Randall's Island in New York City, but inclement weather made performances impossible for acts performing later in the evening. The rest of the day's performers got through their sets despite the weather, but the stage speakers blew out shortly into Feist's set. The difficulties led to the cancellation of the Kings' performance, as well as those of electronic artists Beach House and Pretty Lights.

Concert organizers did some rapid rescheduling to make sure that at least Friday's headliners got a chance to play. Kings of Leon will now play at 6:45 on the main stage, nearly two hours before Saturday's scheduled headliner, the Guns N' Roses. There isn't such good news for Pretty Lights and Beach House fans unfortunately.

Governor's Ball and its ensuing tour dates have meant a lot to Kings of Leon fans, due to a cancelled tour in 2011 that led many to believe the band was on the verge of collapse. Jared Followill, one of the four Followill brothers that make up Leon, tweeted following a blown Dallas concert date in 2011 that "I can't lie, there are problems bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade." However the band announced that a new album, titled "Mechanical Bull," would be released on September 24.
