So, we've been rocking out to Miley Cyrus' new single 'We Can't Stop' for a while now but according to Mike Will Made It and MTV the song was never intended for Cyrus. MWMI planned the song with Bajan beauty Rihanna in mind.
Some of the song's more mature content shows that this song was originally penned for RiRi.
Here's Mike Will Made It's explanation:
"It was kind of crazy 'cause when I originally worked on 'We Can't Stop,' we had did it for Rihanna," the producer said in an interview with MTV News. "The idea was more towards Rihanna. And then Rihanna, she heard [her Unapologetic track] 'Pour It Up,' and then she got on 'Pour It Up' right away. And she didn't even hear 'We Can't Stop.' So then we finished up the record."
However, that's not to say Mike is unhappy with the way things turned out. He explained how Miley made the song her own,
"She liked it, so I thought we were going to knock out one record, and we ended up going in, caught a good vibe, and she's real cool, regular person," said Mike.. "We went in, she nailed the record, and she did it with her swag. So it sounds totally different than from what we originally tried to come up with."

For her part, Miley seems to agree, she told MTV that "I make music for me. I make music 'cause I love it and I know, like I said, I put good energy into it. I want to make this song the biggest song in the world."
