Anyone who's ever been stuck on a plane while it sits on the tarmac know that the experience can be downright miserable. Children are crying, your cell phone is still technically supposed to be off, and tension builds up to "12 Angry Men" levels. R&B star R. Kelly knows more about being trapped in the closet, but another one of his hit singles helped a group of passengers get through an extended delay.
Allegiant Airlines flight 592 was supposed to leave from Las Vegas when troubles with the plane caused the air conditioning to die and for some reason, neither water nor snacks were available while the plane sat for four hours in the 108 degree heat. Two passengers vomited and another duo passed out. In pirate stories this is where a mutiny happens, but one traveler happened to have a a portable music player and brought the group together by playing R.Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" in a situation that was totally ironic but still enjoyable.
There was laughter and applause as the unnamed hero lifted the stereo over his head, and soon a majority of the plane's passengers were singing the song's hook. Check out the epic singalong below:
The moment, although memorable, probably didn't make up for a bad day at the airlines. Other medical issues followed and eventually everyone moved to another plane. A representative for Allegiant said that a separate medical issue was the cause for the initial delay. After the plane finally rolled away from the hangar, mechanical problems ensued and the aircraft couldn't rely on power from the terminal anymore, causing the A/C to shut off.
