Mumford & Sons bassist Ted Dwane is reportedly recovering from an emergency brain surgery procedure he underwent on Tuesday.
The band posted on its site that Dwane had been feeling unwell before visiting a doctor, who discovered a blood clot on the musician's brain.
"Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment," the band wrote on Tuesday morning. "The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."
The band hasn't posted anything new on its site since Dwane's surgery.
The band was forced to cancel three of this week's shows in order to allow Dwane some recovery time. Tuesday night's show in Dallas, Wednesday night in Woodlands, TX and Thursday in New Orleans have been nixed at this point. The band said that it plans on rescheduling and making up the appearances as soon as possible.
The group isn't giving Dwane too much time however. The band is schedule to play the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, TN on Saturday and at the moment, the band's site indicates that show will go on. The group's regular tour schedule picks up on Monday and continues in the United States until June 22, when the band is set to fly back to the U.K. The U.S. tour wraps up in Telluride, CO, and fans should probably expect the cancelled dates to be squeezed in the last eight days before the band flies to England.
Mumford & Sons has risen to mainstream prominence in the last year since winning the Best Album Grammy for the band's most recent release, "Babel" earlier this year.
