Snoop Dogg was already "Reincarnated" into Snoop Lion, now the "Ashtrays and Heartbreak" rapper is being transformed into Smoove Move the snail in the new Dreamworks animated comedy, "Turbo." Snoop even created a new '80's inspired track, "Let The Bass Go," for the soundtrack of the film.
"He's a slick-talking, slow-walking son of a snail," Snoop Dogg told Rolling Stone of Smoove Move, the mini mollusk character he voices in "Turbo"
Snoop has been getting his acting on for more than a decade; he most recent appeared on the interent soap opera "One Life to Live", starring as himself. Snoop has always enjoyed acting so it is no shock that he is lending his voice for "Turbo." "They approached me about doing a voice in the movie, so I said, 'Why not?'" he explains. "I love animated movies, and I've always been loved by the kids, but I didn't know how to target that audience. This is the perfect way."
While Snoop describes Smoove Move as a "slick-talking, slow-walking son of a snail," his song "Let The Bass Go," is just the opposite.
"It's something upbeat that everyone in the house can enjoy, the "No Guns Allowed" reggae star told Rolling Stone. I'm on my old-school rap style there: we took sounds from the Eighties like an 808 bass to give it that 'Planet Rock' and 'Going Back to Cali' feel. It was about paying homage, while at the same time taking the movie to the next level."
"Turbo" also features the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Peña, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Samuel L. Jackson. "Turbo" hits theaters July 17th.
