The Veronica Mars movie continues to add cast members from the cult show's run as Tina Majorino, aka Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie, has officially joined the film, according to TVLine.
Show and film creator and executive producer Rob Thomas announced the maneuver Wednesday night through an email to the movie's supporters on the crowd funding service Kickstarter.
"I wrote Mac for Tina, and Tina only," he wrote. "Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect. I couldn't be more pleased that she'll be with us for the movie."
Majorino, who has been known recently for her work on "Grey's Anatomy," joins fellow cast members Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls) and Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel).
Thomas also emailed supporters when Daggs joined the cast and said the following:
"As so many of you wrote to remind me, Wallace's friendship with Veronica has always been one of the foundations of the show...And now that he's officially signed, I can admit that there was never a version of the script that didn't include him. It just wouldn't happen."
Mstars previously reported details about the Veronica Mars movie:
"The film is set at Veronica's 10-year high school reunion. Dohring's character is central to the film's plot as Veronica gets sucked into a murder mystery that involves Logan's girlfriend, a pop star.
Veronica will be dating someone else at the start of the movie and has not seen Logan in nine years, according to Thomas.
TVLine has listed seven spoilers for the Veronica Mars movie here, including which characters would not return in the feature film."
