Robin Thicke and his guests, T.I. and Pharrell, dominated the Billboard charts this week with single "Blurred Lines" rising to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
The chart takes a song's rise in popularity into account for the Hot 100, based on three categories: digital, airplay and streaming. "Blurred Lines" jumped from no. 8 to no. 1 in the digital category, and rose to no. 8 in the other two segments.
The single sold 315,000 downloads last week, bringing it's total over the million-download mark, making it Thicke's most downloaded song in his career according to Nielsen Soundscan. The song also represents the first time Thicke has topped the Hot 100 chart.
His guests have been in the top spot before, but it's been a while for both. "Blurred Lines" marks T.I.'s fourth time on top, but his first instance since 2008's "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna peaked. Pharrell has never been at no. 1 for one of his own songs, but has reached the top as a guest for both Snoop Dogg and Ludacris.
"Blurred Lines" replaced "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis from last week's charts. The Thicke single unsurprisingly topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts as well.
"Blurred Lines" made headlines earlier this year when the original version of its music video was pulled off of YouTube. The video featured three models wearing clothing that doesn't do much to hide body parts that might ordinarily be censored. The edited version of the video is largely the same, but with the models wearing less suggestive articles.
Miley Cyrus also made Billboard news as her single "We Can't Stop" debuted at no. 11 on the Hot 100. It's Cyrus's highest place on the chart since "Party in The U.S.A." in 2009.
