The future is bleak in Elysium. But do not worry: Matt Damon is ready to take a stand against the wealthy and privileged. While Earth is for the poor and impoverished, the satellite named "Elysium" houses the lucky and fortunate. Armed with a body-enhancing suit, Damon attempts to break into the perfect infrastructure in order to stop the corruption on earth. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and costars Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley (A-Team, District 9).
In the second trailer for this summer blockbuster, we get a longer glimpse into the futuristic world. We also get to appreciate some sarcastic remarks from Mat Damon. Certainly humor is always welcome in films such as this, but when it comes down to it Elysium is an action thrill ride of a move that is sure to captivate audiences this summer
Here is the film's official synopsis:
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
Elysium opens in theaters on August 9.
