Fans of Kanye West and his new 2013 album Yeezus will have the chance to see the music live. In a Reddit AMA yesterday, producer Mike Dean stated that 'Ye will tour behind the new album.
When asked by Reddit user defrio29 "...will there be a Yeezus tour? Will you be one of the backing performers during the tour?" Dean simply answered "Yes and yes."
West's last tour was his co-headlining trek with friend Jay-Z on the Watch the Throne tour in 2011 and 2012. That tour had 57 performances around the world, in both North America and Europe.
West is a relatively infrequent touring artist. His last tour Watch the Throne, and the last time he hit the road as a solo touring artist, was Glow in the Dark back in 2008.
He did have a cancelled tour with Lady Gaga in 2009, Fame Kills. Those performances were cancelled after the Taylor Swift controversy at the VMAs.
Dean did answer, vaguely, what fans can expect from a Yeezus-promoting tour. "We usually put more base [sic] stuff for a live tour," the producer answered in another question. This implies heavier beats and a more intense, yet, danceable atmosphere for people expecting to catch Kanye live.
Dean, who admitted he did the most work on "I Am A God" and "Hold My Liquor," left fans hanging at the end of his question-and-answer session. "Stay tuned for the tour and other sh*t," he wrote at the conclusion of the AMA. This makes it seem as though more news about an official tour will roll out in the coming weeks.
