If you were wondering if there's ever been a better year to be Pharrell Williams, the lyric video for "Happy" from Despicable Me 2 might hammer 2013 home as the clear winner. The bouncy track's clip even features an assist from everyone's favorite background characters, the minions. Anyone in need of a boost should definitely check it out.
Check out "Happy" below:
"Happy" takes the tradition of internet-baiting lyric video back to its roots (i.e. Cee-Lo Green's 2010 smash "F*ck You") with a hyper-uplifiting soul sing-a-long. Since then, lyric videos have become a staple of the modern music landscape with artists using them to release singles or adding them as bonus content to albums.
Much like his production style, the lyric video adds a new twist to old world style. Where lyric videos typically consist of words moving around the screen by themselves,"Happy" throws in some characters from DM2 for good measure.
What do you think of "Happy", Pharrell's contribution to Despicable Me 2?
