Cee Lo Green is best known for a particular phrase involving obscenities (hint: the phrase is also the name of his biggest single), but now the R&B star is asking for forgiveness instead of issuing spite.

Green was formally banned from the Riverbend Music Festival in Chattanooga, TN because he cursed too much for the organizers' liking. According to the organizers, Green signed an agreement beforehand stating that he wouldn't curse onstage, as it's a family-friendly event.

Green didn't perform the "Forget You" version of his hit single, needless to say. The star was also in trouble for showing up late late but festival heads admitted that the trouble at the local airport was outside of his control.

Green took the stage at the Playhouse nightclub in Hollywood on Tuesday night and offered his sincere apologies.

"I apologize," he said. "Forgive me Chattanooga. Have me back, okay?"

At the same time, he also tried to justify his performance.

"It was just a little cursing," he said. "The song IS called 'F--- You.'"

In case you were wondering what was the offending song from Green's playlist, that was it.

Green took a break this season from being a coach on "The Voice," but he's scheduled to return for season five. Green's first musical group, the Goodie Mob, is due to release the album "Age Against The Machine" later in 2013.

The rest of Green's set at Riverbend wasn't too risky, but it got a little risqué when the star covered the Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha."
