An unexpected look into the private life of Michael Jackson's daughter Paris came to light during the Jackson family's lawsuit against AEG Live. The source was Kai Chase, the Jackson's personal chef who still works for the family (it's not the most witness at the stand this week. Michael's ghost was channeled by Lionel Richie's ex-wife earlier).
Chase described Jackson as a "vibrant and hands-on" father, and described the emotional toll that his death has taken on the three children, including Paris, who attempted suicide less than two weeks ago. The chef said that the party Jackson threw for Paris when she turned 11, her last birthday while her father was alive, was so special to her that she hasn't celebrated a birthday since his passing. Jackson reportedly organized a miniature circus, complete with performers and animals.
Jackson's death has also affected the other children, sons Prince Michael and Blanket. Chase described Prince, 16, as struggling to cope with the changes brought on by high school. Blanket, 11, wears a t-shirt featuring Jackson's image every Friday.
The chef also commented on the tension surrounding the plans for Jackson's "This Is It" concert series and how it played into the singer's deteriorating health. She reported that one meeting ended with a broken vase and Conrad Murray, the doctor hired for Jackson by AEG, declaring "I can't take this."
Jackson's children and their grandmother Katherine are suing AEG for Murray's hiring, saying the doctor's irresponsible prescriptions of painkillers and sleep aids resulted to Jackson's death. The family is pursuing $40 billion in damages.
