Ne-Yo is always worth a bit of attention when he's discussing his own music, so why not lend an ear when the R&B star reveals details for the upcoming albums of Beyonce, Jay-Z and Celine Dion? Ne-Yo dished on each during an interview with Billboard magazine.
BEYONCE: "I'm still putting stuff together for Beyonce's album," he said. "They're still trying to figure out what they want that to be, which I'm not mad at. Beyonce's the kind of artist where you're not gonna see it till it's right. And her fans -- they love her so they'll be patient."
Beyonce's been working on her fifth album since last summer and not much else has been made clear. No singles have been released, but three tracks ("Grown Woman," "Standing on The Sun" and "Rise Up") have made appearances in advertising campaigns and movies. Ne-Yo doesn't tell readers much on the subject, but lets them know that Beyonce's team isn't messing around. Ne-Yo had a hit with Beyonce in 2007 for her single "Irreplaceable."
JAY-Z: "I went in, I did a session where I laid down a couple hooks but I have no idea what's going to be kept. I heard some of the new stuff. It's amazing. With Jay-Z it's hard not to be amazing."
Ne-Yo is obviously impressed with Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" even though he claims not to know what tracks will be featured. Keep an eye out for hard copies of Jay's singles because Ne-Yo seems to think the B-sides will be just as good.
CELINE DION: "I'm still writing for her," he says. "I just recently got a call to do some more songs, so I know she's doing some more work."
What Ne-Yo does know is that the album will feature an Adele cover. The R&B star teamed with the Canadian songstress for "Water And A Flame."
And then of course is Ne-Yo's own music. He says the planning is still in the "conceptual phase" but thinks it'll be mostly R&B, versus some of the more EDM-styled music he's had recent success with.
