Although the Miami Heat came out on top against the San Antonio Spurs last night in game six of the 2013 NBA finals, all anyone can really talk about today is how LeBron James lost his signature headband during the game! It just so happens that the Spurs were leading 80 to 77 in the fourth quarter of the heated match when the headband came off, but then the Miami came from behind to win. Did losing the headband put a jump in James' step?
This headband is more than just a way for James to keep his sweat under control during games; the 28-year-old suffers from an embarrassing receding hairline, too. James is used to the jokes about his headband and fans' attempts to steal it, so when he lost it last night people were worried it would affect the rest of the game. Well, it actually kind of did!
Here is the play where James loses his headband:
"I don't even remember the play much," James said after the game. "I was just focused on the job, the task at hand, and just trying to be aggressive, just trying to figure out ways I could help the team get back into the game. And you know, I guess the headband was the least of my worries at that point."
Here is another video showcasing the aftermath of the lost headband:
Do you think that it was holding him back? Clearly seeing him without it was weird, but the star athlete was even seen without it during the post-game Q&A as well as today's practice. Check out some photos of James at practice and another of his teammates joking about his hairline:
