Vince Flynn Dies At Age 47: Popular Author Passes Away after Two Year Battle With Cancer

Vince Flynn was a fellow author, and a darn good one too. He wrote books such as, "The Last Man," and like any other writer, his legacy will be left with him in the form of the printed word. One way to leave a peice of yourself behind so your talent can go on to make future generations laugh, smile, cry, fright, or feel releif. Flynn was one of my favorite authors, and he will be sorely missed.

Vince Flynn has been fighting a battle with cancer for the better part of two years. Flynn is from Minnesota, the state in which yours truley hails from. Growing up, he was a local writer who made it big, and me wanting to be a writer myself since a young age found someone to look up to in Mr. Flynn. He died in the hospital which his friends and family gathered around him to pray, he passed relatively peacefully.

This man influenced me in more ways than he even knows. I have never met Vince Flynn, nor will I, yet somehow he was able to reach to me through his words in his books. He was able to be my mentor when I was going through school, he was my motivation for what I wanted to be someday: A successful author from Minnesota sharing my stories with the people of the world. I have him to thank for reminding my of my passion for writing when I went to college and bringing me back to it through journalism. Vince Flynn, you will be missed.

Mr. Flynn is survived by his wife and three children. He was diagnosed with stage III metastatic prostate cancer right around Thanksgiving in November 2010.

Reaching back to 2005 in an interview with the Associated Press, Mr. Flynn said, "If (Tom) Clancy could do it, why can't I?"

Moving forward to 2013 in an article for MSTARZ.com Mr. Melin said, "If (Vince) Flynn could do it, why can't I?"
