Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, will reportedly follow in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, by planning a natural birth in Lindo wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The birth, allegedly scheduled for mid-July, will take place in the same place where Prince William was born. Also, the royal birth of the future heir to the throne will be announced in a traditional as well as a modernized way. Though the palace has confirmed all of this news, they report that William and Kate still "do not know and do not plan to find out the gender of the baby in advance"
The arrival of the new royal baby will be announced just as the child's father's birth: by delivering a formal notice to be placed on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. Some reports differ on this account, but the birth might also be announced on Twitter.
In keeping with tradition, Queen Elizabeth II (the future heir's great-grandmother) will be informed of the birth before the public. After the birth "a palace staffer will hand a notice, signed by the medical team, to a driver who will take it from the hospital to Buckingham Palace." From details of the birth will be mounted on an easel in the forecourt. A 41-gun salute will also commemorate the birth.
With Kate officially away on maternity leave leading up to the due date, some companies are willing to pay top dollar for professional impersonators. 26-year-old, Windsor-born Gabriella Munro-Douglas is just one of the more successful doppelgangers working today.
The young lookalike recently shared her story of how she got into the $1,500-per-appearance gig. "I thought it would last a year after the wedding, but she is becoming more popular which will continue with the royal baby too," she said. "Maybe in 20 years I will still be doing it. But it depends on my appearance and if I age at the same rate. It is not a bad thing looking like her though. It could be worse."
Here is a video of her talking about her fake baby bump:
