The news of James Gandolfini's sudden death in Italy shocked many fans of the actor and the HBO show "The Sopranos." But from that tragedy came a beautiful tribute from Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.
Springsteen and the band performed at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, England on Thursday night as part of their "Wrecking Ball Tour." Eleven songs into the setlist, after they had performed "The River," Springsteen stepped up to the microphone and announced that the band would play the entire 1975 Born to Run album in memory of Gandolfini, according to Hidden Track.
Springsteen's guitarist Steven Van Zandt was Gandolfini's close friend as he co-starred with him as Silvio Dante on "The Sopranos." Van Zandt posted the following on Twitter after Gandolfini's death:
I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time.
