Anna Kendrick, Cinderella: Actress in Talks to Play Role in 'Into the Woods,' 'Pitch Perfect 2' Confirmed, Break Up From Boyfriend Edgar Wright

Actress Anna Kendrick became a star after her performance in "Pitch Perfect." More specifically she became popular after performing the song "Cups" in the movie and it became an instant hit. However, the actress may be in a new 2014 role that propels her into Oscar talk. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the actress is in talks to play Cinderella in "Into the Woods." The movie is the Broadway adaptation of the Disney musical directed by Rob Marshall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter there are a number of huge stars in negotiations to star in the movie including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt and Tracy Ullman.

"Into the Woods" is scheduled to be released in theaters December 25, 2014. The IMDB synopsis of the movie reads, "A witch conspires to teach important lessons to various characters of popular children's stories including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel."

It was also announced recently that there will be a "Pitch Perfect 2." Just Jared reported back in April that "Pitch Perfect 2" is confirmed by Universal Pictures for a 2015 release. The movie was a big hit and its popularity was furthered by Rebel Wilson's 2013 MTV Movie Awards hosting gig. Kendrick certainly has a bright future ahead of her with a number of potential hits on the horizon.

As for Kendrick's personal life, the actress reportedly broke up from her longtime boyfriend this past spring. The Daily Mail reported back in March that Kendrick and "Shaun of the Dead" director Edgar Wright broke up amicably.
