Jackie Chan Dead? Online Death Hoax Goes Viral, 'Died in Australia Car Accident' FALSE! Actor 'Alive and Well' on Facebook, Fans Respond to Morbid Prank on Twitter [PHOTO]

Back in 2011, popular Hong Kong actor and martial arts superstar Jackie Chan allegedly "fell to his death" while filming a movie in Austria. That, obviously, was false. Now, the infamous celebrity death hoax strikes again - this time, 59-year-old Chan apparently died in a horrific car accident in Australia. Again, this is NOT TRUE. Chan is indeed still alive and well - the "Rush Hour" star even provided visual Facebook evidence on Friday (June 21) to prove so. Still, the morbid death hoax recently went viral on the web, prompting several Twitter fans to spread the word that JACKIE CHAN IS NOT DEAD! Period.

The internet tried killing-off Chan back in 2011... and for some reason, such morbid death rumors started resurfacing on Twitter and Facebook again earlier this month. Here's the bogus Global Associated News report that started the whole thing:

"Actor Jackie Chan died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning - June 23, 2013 (obviously the fake obit generates up-to-date deaths). Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 50 feet to his death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. Specific details are not yet available. The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12)."

Several fans fell for the story posted on the PRANK news website. But Chan IS NOT dead - and he has visual evidence to prove it!

Chan posted this message on Facebook and Twitter on Friday, June 21:

"Hi everybody! Yesterday, I got on a 3am flight from India to Beijing. I didn't get a chance to sleep and even had to clean my house when I got home. Today, everybody called to congratulate me on my rumored engagement. Afterward, everybody called me to see if I was alive.

If I died, I would probably tell the world! I took a photo with today's date, just in case you don't believe me! However, thank you all for your concern. Kiss kiss and love you all!

P.S. My dog is healthy, just like me! He doesn't need surgery! By the way, my dogs are golden retrievers, not Labradors."

The post received over 233,000 "likes" and counting. Hey, at least Chan has a sense of humor about it!

According to the International Business Times, Chan was actually "killed off" several different ways on the web. Not cool. One death hoax report stated:

"Actor Jackie Chan died in a single vehicle crash between Ipswich and Willowbank in Queensland (Australia) as confirmed by Royal Queensland Police [at about 5:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +10)]. Jackie Chan is believed to have been in the area while on vacation and he was identified by photo ID found at the scene. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident."

Another bogus story circulating on Facebook and Twitter claims, "At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (June 05, 2013), our beloved actor Jackie Chan passed away. Jackie Chan was born on April 7, 1954 in Hong Kong. He will be missed but not forgotten."

On June 6, one of Chan's reps confirmed that the actor was still alive and striving - "He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet." Chan recently had his hands and feet printed on wet cement during a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood... and he was breathing while doing so.
