Just as soon as the ink dried from reports that the entire Chris-Brown-car-accident thing was no big deal, further reports are suggesting that it was in fact a big deal.
The details: Brown was driving with Karrueche Tran in Los Angeles when he rear-ended a woman driving a Mercedes. Brown pulled over, and this is where details get fuzzy. According to Brown, he gave the woman his driver's license and insurance information. According to the driver, Olga Gure-Kovalenko, Brown refused to give either before speeding off. Yesterday's story was that the LAPD served Brown with papers alleging hit-and-run (because he left without giving proper information) and driving with an illegal license.
Brown's lawyer Mark Geragos gave an official statement Wednesday morning bridging the two stories, although coming down largely on Brown's side. He claims that Brown did give a license, albeit one from his home state of Virginia and not California (a formality that shouldn't bring charges). Brown also showed proof of insurance, but the card he was carrying was for that of his Lamborghini (the car he was driving was actually Tran's Land Rover).
Claims made to the media by Gure-Kovalenko might not incriminate Brown in any actual crime, but it sure doesn't polish his image at all. Tran reportedly tried to take the heat, handing over her information while Brown stood by. Gure-Kovalenko insisted, and tried to snap a picture of the duo in case the pair took off. Brown, always a fan of having his picture taken, did not take this too well. According to the Gure-Kovalenko, the R&B star yelled "Who do you think you are b----?" before accusing the driver of trying to extort him.
Tran was level-headed enough to realize what would happen to Brown if it escalated and yelled to him "Don't touch her!" The two then reportedly got in the Land Rover and drove away.
