Aaron Hernandez Arrested: Former New England Patriots Tight End Charged With Murder Connected To Odin Lloyd Death

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been arrested and charged with murder, according to TMZ.

Hernandez, 23, was arraigned Wednesday morning in a courthouse in Attleboro, Mass. and charged Wednesday afternoon with murder in connection to the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez was also charged with one count of carrying a gun without a license, two counts of possession of a large firearm and two counts of firearm possession.

He pled not guilty to all charges.

The district attorney said Lloyd, who played semi-professional football, was shot several times in his chest, back, groin, side and arm with a .45 caliber semi-automatic weapon. His body was found last Monday in proximity to Hernandez's home.

The DA said Hernandez and Lloyd had contact with each other a mere 10 hours before Lloyd died. The prosecution claims to have video that shows Lloyd's getting into Hernandez's car at that time and also claim that Hernandez had texted Lloyd.

Furthermore, the DA said that authorities found keys in Lloyd's pocket to a car that Hernandez had rented.

According to TMZ, Lloyd may have been dating Hernandez's fiancée's sister when he died.

Police arrested Hernandez outside his home in Massachusetts early Wednesday morning. Footage showed police walking him out of his house in handcuffs with his arms behind his back. He wore a white T-shirt and orange pants.

The New England Patriots released Hernandez shortly thereafter and released the following statement:

"A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss. Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."
