Isaac Carree released his newest album, 'Reset,' on June 25, and explained some of the meaning behind the new album in an interview with Gospel Today.

"Basically, it's a real simple movement that I'm trying to start here to encourage people to understand that when you're going through situations and you feel like your life has been in turmoil and your dreams haven't come to pass and a lot of things haven't come to flourishing yet, you know, you can always remember that it's never to late to begin again," he said. "You can always reach over a press that reset button and reset your dreams, reset your goals"

Carree explained that it doesn't matter if you are a woman who gave up your dreams of going back to school to start a family, or if you are a man who started a business but didn't have the resources for it to take off, or if you are someone who has gotten themselves into some sticky situations and feels as if you don't quality for God's blessings, it is never too later to push reset. "People need to be inspired, uplifted, encouraged, and that's what this music, this album and this movement is trying to do," he said.

Carree said that, over the years, he has been inspired by the reward that God has given him for years of service alongside other people. Other the past 20- 25 years he has served with Pastor John P. Kee (in the 90s), co-founded the gospel group 'Men Of Standard,' and has sung with Kirk Franklin for the last eight years. A new season began about three years ago for Carree, when he began serving on his own. "It was a challenging season, but I was able to look back and say God was rewarding me for the service that I've given," he said. "So, I wanna make sure people understand that the success is in serving, because if God can trust you serving somebody else, He can trust you with your own."

Carree said that he, himself, pressed reset in the making of this new album. "With this music, from the last album, I think this is an extension from the last album, but I think I pushed the envelope a little more. I wanted to show people how I interpret music and definitely how I interpret music in the season that I'm in," he explained. "A lot of these songs came from pain, a lot of these songs came from experiences, a lot of these songs came from triumphs, a lot of these songs came from testimonies from other people. So, I wanted to form it in a manner where people can understand where I'm coming from."

He said that, this time around, he felt a lot more free in his creativity and a lot more wise in his understanding that he was trying to do an album that people could identify with. "That came with trial and error from the last record. Even though it did really well and God blessed it, I wanted to make sure that I learned from my mistakes and I corrected them," he said. "If you listen to the record, I stretched a little more. It's a little more urban, but a lot more church."

The new album features big names in both Christian and Pop music including, R. Kelly, Lecrae, Kirk Franklin, Kierra Sheard, Mike Jay 'MJ' Jiminez, Le'Andria Johnson, James Fortune and Neka Brown. He said that he first made sure that he was putting features on the 'impact tracks' on his new album and then he thought pretty hard about who would sound good on what song. "Another thing about the features is, I wanted to make sure it was new faces, or people who don't get a lot of the looks," he said. "I understand that God is in the midst of a shifting and there's a shifting taking place in the industry, a lot of new faces are coming to the forefront, like a James Fortune, like a Kierra Sheard, like a Lecrae, that the masses are just now learning." He said that also feels very strongly about promoting the next generation of gospel artists and seeing that their voices get heard.

Carree's advice to those who are looking to reset their own lives is to reset our priorities, to first seek God, rather than seeking earthly things. After that, he advises them to seek the wisdom to know whether or not this is something that they are being called to do. "Lastly, make sure that this is what you do and this doesn't become who you are," Carree added. In this way, he says, the things in our lives won't have the power to become a 'god' over our lives.

'Reset,' became available for purchase on June 25. Carree's Top 10 hit single off of the new album, entitled, 'Clean This House,' has worked its way all the way to No. 2 on the Gospel radio charts early this week and continues to rise in popularity. His last album, 'Uncommon Me,' was his 2011 debut and it contained the popular hit song 'In The Middle.'
