The name "North West" didn't fail to generate headlines and many a pointless argument over whether parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West made a good life choice when naming their first daughter that. No one bothered to ask residents of the Northwest United States however, until the Public Policy Polling agency reached out to residents of the state of Montana.
And what did they find?
22 percent of those polled in the state disagreed with the name "North West." Surely this must be a good sign for Kimye, who in the rest of the continental United States have not gotten anywhere near as low a disapproval rating as 22 percent. Except that those in favor of the name was only 9 percent. Using the ol' arithmetic skills, we can determine that if 22 percent disagreed and 9 percent agreed, then 69 percent didn't have an opinion. The poll established that the 69 percent voted that they didn't know who North West is.
The message here is that any celebrity constantly terrorized by the paparazzi (Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, The Jackson Family) should consider moving to Montana, because nearly 70% of the state doesn't seem to get worked up over this stuff.
The question about West was an unusual one among the survey, most of which dealt with both local and national political issues. It was the last topic of discussion on the 23-page questionnaire. The other two questions on the page ask whether Montanans are more in support of Brian Schweitzer or Chris Christie in the New Jersey gubernatorial race, and whether they are fans of the University of Montana or Montana State University.
