You would think that after more than 50 years as a band and playing some of the biggest shows possible, The Rolling Stones would be up for anything. However Keith Richards, the band's guitarist and fan favorite, admitted that he was a little nervous heading into the group's headlining slot at the Glastonbury Music Festival on Saturday.

It's not the crowds that worry Richards (Glastonbury hosts around 100,000 fans for three days in southwest England), it's the weather.

"I think the only pressure we feel is that it is the first time we've done an outdoor show for yonks and English weather," Richards said in an interview with the BBC. "Throwing in those two equations, yeah there is maybe a little apprehension."

Weather is always a factor at Glastonbury, but it's been accepted as part of the plan and most fans have come to terms with it. As Richards mentioned, the Stones haven't played an outdoor show in several years.

It will be the band's first time playing at the festival, which is one of the largest music events in the world on a yearly basis. Some have commented on how unusual it is that what is now the world's biggest band has never played at Glastonbury, despite it being founded in 1970.

"It just never occurred. Many times it has been on the list of tours and stuff and for one reason or another it never coincided," Richards said. "Like a black hole in space or something but in we go this time...I'm looking forward to it because it is an iconic gig and it's an iconic band and finally the two meet at last. . . . In a way it's kind of weird that at last we've made it to Glastonbury. It's like building Stonehenge right?"

Whatever you say Keith. The band's appearance has also driven speculation about what act will join them as guests onstage. UK bookies give the best odds to guitarist Jeff Beck joining the group, followed by possible visits from Bruce Springsteen, Adele and David Bowie. The festival opened Friday morning and featured performances by Chic and Dizzee Rascal, as well as a "secret set" from Beady Eye.
