Talk about your incredible records, and Country Weekly agrees. Dierks Bentley has received an "A" for his album "Bourbon in Kentucky" which is hard to achieve from the website. Country weekly gives very fair and consistent reviews, so if they say it's good; fans should be inclined to believe them.
Country Weekly says the album works well because it takes the contemporary country sound and doesn't go too far with it. Meaning, it has hints of cross-genre in the sound, but the original feeling of listening to country music isn't lost in it.
CW also comments on the character who is built in the album. They mention that the character is believable, and they mention that they believe they know what the character is going through, saying that all that drinking the character does is only going to make him feel worse and not better.
The song itself is haunting, it has an opening guitar riff which is suddenly interrupted by the boomingly deep voice of Dierks. Pretty soon you are enveloped in the song, guided in with soft hands rather than punched into the album. Kacey Musgraves sings the backup vocal on the song as well, you can give it a listen right below.
