In an interesting move that is sure to spark some controversy, 20-year-old female golfer Jessica Korda fired her caddie mid-way through the U.S. Women's Open and hired her boyfriend. According to USA Today Sports, Korda was having a disastrous third round at the Women's Open when she decided to drop her caddie on Saturday in favor of her boyfriend Johnny DelPrete. ESPNW reports that Korda, competing in her sixth Women's Open at the Sebonack Golf Club, said that she and her former caddie Jason Gilroyed weren't seeing eye-to-eye.

Korda finished Saturday 4-over 76 and tied for sixth place. Korda was 11 shots behind the leader, Inbee Park. The switch seemed to work as she shot one under after the change.

"Had a couple of disagreements here and there, and I wasn't in the right state of mind," said Korda. "I knew I needed to switch and just have a little bit more fun out there...It was tough for me, because I care about Jason a lot; he's a great guy. I'm not that type of person to take these things really easily. For me it was very hard to tell him that, and it took a lot for me."

Korda explained that having her boyfriend caddie for her helped. "The first few holes I was very shaky, but my boyfriend/caddie kept me very calm out there and kept it very light," Korda explained. "And it was kind of funny seeing him fumble over yardage."

As of the early afternoon on Sunday, which is the final day of the 2013 U.S. Women's Open, it looks like the change in caddies really helped Korda. According to the U.S. Women's Open Championship website, Korda is one under so far on Sunday and is currently tied for fourth at even par. You can follow the current leaderboard here.
