The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in their last few weeks before the birth of their first child, but reports are claiming that they do not know the sex of their child. Plus, if they did in fact know, they would not announce it before the actual delivery. Clearly this means that they do not have any name ideas or announcements either. Luckily for us, the United Kingdom is a betting country and the interest in both the gender and the name of the future heir to the throne has been racking up the bets. So what are people putting their money on with only a few weeks left before the Royal birth?
Kate Middleton is set to give birth sometime this month, with no official due date confirmed by the Palace. In terms of the favored dates, July 17, 2013, is the favored among betters with 9/1 odds.
According to William Hill, Britain's top largest bookmaker, the odds are favoring the arrival of a Princess this July. Odds for a boy are coming in at 6/4. Most media outlets and gossip sites are figuring that Will and Kate's first child will be a girl, as well. So what will we be calling their daughter?
According to sources and bets, the future heir to the throne will be Princess Alexandra!
"With a market like this we would expect to see a couple of serious gambles as the date of the birth draws ever closer but as it stands we have not seen a massive rush for any one specific (barring Alexandra as the name) which makes us think that we probably have a couple more weeks to wait yet," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
What do you think about these odds and bets? Are you with the majority in thinking that the baby will be a girl? If so, do you think that Alexandra is the likely choice for her name?
