Albert Hammond, Jr. may be best known for being the guitarist of alternative rock band The Strokes. But, the musician also has a successful solo career, as displayed by 2006's Yours to Keep and 2008's ¿Como Te Llama? Five years after his last solo effort, Hammond announced that he will release a five-song EP in September via the podcast "Nocturnal Emotions," according to Pitchfork. The new music will come out via fellow Stroke Julian Casablancas' record label Cult Records.

Hammond played the majority of instruments on the yet-to-be-titled EP. However, he did get help from Matt Romano on drums. Gus Oberg produced the new effort. Oberg has also worked on the last two Strokes albums (Comedown Machine and Angles). He was also the producer of Hammond's first solo effort Yours to Keep.

Listen to "Holiday" and "Hard to Live in The City" from that album below:

Hammond isn't the only Strokes member who has branched out on his own. Frontman Casablancas released a solo album Phrazes for the Young in 2009. He has also been a featured musician on several tracks, including The Lonely Island's "Boombox" and Daft Punk's "Instant Crush" from the French duo's No. 1 album Random Access Memories.

Band members Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti also have projects outside of The Strokes (with Nickle Eye and Little Joy, respectively).

Meanwhile, the band as a whole released their fifth studio album Comedown Machine in March of this year. A sixth effort is rumored to be in the works.
